This experience hiking in Tuscany, will take place really close to florence.
This hike is simple and suitable for families with kids too.
Let’s start, experience hiking in Tuscany in a new episode 🙂
Hiking Santa Brigida, Tuscany.
This time you can leave your car right at the beginning of the walk, by L’ alberaccio:
The beginning of the walk is right there. There are plenty of path marks to follow and not getting lost.
Hiking tuscany – The Path
Experience hiking in Tuscany from Florence, explained in a simple way.
From where you left the car there are marks to guide you. To be sure you can follow my account on Komoot,

The hike is around 10/15 km, there are others little short cuts or paths that might walk you longer.
The previous picture of the path, is low on the mountain side but you can go further up and reach the monastery of Madonnna del Sasso from up above and than end up the walk all downhill or pretty much. The Paths are really nice signed and easy to follow.
Here’s an example. This second time, I took the path leading me right at the top of Poggio Riapaghera where you will find the Path 00 that leads you to Monte Giovi.
I didn’t, I took the way down to Madonna del sasso Monastery and then all the way back to L’alberaccio.
And you can do it one way or the other. It will change the dislivello positive and negative.
You will be walking on mostly rocky soil and only a little portion is a bit tricky. Especially if you do my second version from Poggio Ripaghera down to Madonna del Sasso monastery, you have to be careful going downhill. It can be slippery and steep.
Highlights along the way
The highlights along the way are many.
Like Great woods, wide paths and mushrooms everywhere. Gigantic old chestnuts trees, fresh spring water and predominant views on the surroundings.
Morevoer you will find The burraie (butter houses) and above all you have the Monastery of Madonna del Sasso.
The monastery was built on an ancient pagan site used since the Etruscans and before them.
This place is absolutely magic, the view is breathtaking and the peace you breathe there is outstanding.
Definitely worth a visit and to rest for a bit there.

These paths are mostly known as Sentiero delle Burraie:

Lovely, tiny little houses that remind you of hobbit houses, used to produce and store butter. So as you might imagine it will be cold inside. Along the hikes you can find many signs leading you to different little Butter Houses spread through the woods.
The Butter houses are really lovely and reminders of the old days.
